Background

As part of the Design System squad at Bupa UK, I work on Anatomy, Bupa’s design system supporting multiple product teams across Bupa.co.uk and related digital services.
Operating within a large, regulated healthcare organisation, the design system plays a critical role in ensuring consistency, accessibility, and delivery speed across a complex product ecosystem.
My focus is on evolving reusable components and patterns that balance brand expression, usability, and technical feasibility, while supporting adoption across squads and close collaboration with engineering partners.

Duties

• Contributed to the evolution of the Anatomy design system, supporting consistent and scalable UI across multiple product teams
• Designed and documented reusable components and patterns, ensuring alignment with accessibility standards and brand guidelines
• Worked closely with engineers to ensure design decisions translated effectively into production-ready components
• Supported adoption of the design system across squads through clear documentation, guidance, and collaboration
• Improved ways of working within the design system practice, helping teams align on standards, ownership, and quality
